Lighting the Way Update: Very Busy in Outreach

Dear Everyone,

We set up the outreach table to reach the lost with the Gospel today on Memorial Day, and it went so well that it was as if the Lord impressed upon my heart this question afterwards, on the way back home:  If you knew you were to leave this world tomorrow, how would you want to spend your last day here on earth? The answer came immediately! I would set up the outreach table and tell people about Jesus all day. There is nothing I love more than taking my Bible and then showing someone verse after verse about how to be saved.

Here on Memorial Day, as we remember the veterans who gave their lives, we also want to remember Jesus who gave His life. We set up the outreach table this morning at Siesta Key, and it went so well that I plan to be there again tomorrow morning and every morning after I walk at sunrise. God just brought this idea of setting up the outreach table more at Siesta Key in the mornings to my mind today, so I will begin tomorrow to do it as many mornings as possible during the week. In addition, we have the Kids’ Bible Club to underprivileged children on Saturdays, and the outreach at Siesta Key on Sunday nights to tell New Agers about why the Jesus of the Bible is far more than some impersonal “energy force” or mere “higher power.”

We stay so busy in our outreach locations that it is all I can do to keep everything organized and all of the updates shared on the ministry blog daily, as all of the leaders write about every single outreach in each location. I realize that it has been a long time since my last newsletter, but if you go to the blog HERE you can scroll through our outreaches this spring to see how busy we have been. Click on any photo to read a summary about each, individual outreach.

We have not missed one single week in outreach to the children in the projects of East Nashville, as “Mr. Mike” is such a servant that he even goes in the rain to visit, not just the kids, but teens and adults. He not only teaches them Scripture verses with rewards for Scripture memorization each week, but he also takes adults to the grocery store if they do not have a car, etc. It is so wonderful to know a Christian like him, and I am honored to get to work with him in missions. Also, I can say the same for Susan Young, who leads the outreach in Seal Beach, CA, where they, too,  never miss a week, have a follow-up Bible study on Monday nights, do more mission work throughout the week and continue to see so many people getting saved that it is like some sort of revival happening there, all through this outreach that God has entrusted to us. Every Saturday at the Kids’ Bible Club–our outreach to underprivileged, Hispanic children (from Catholic families), ranging in age from third grade to ninth grade—we see these children with the English/Spanish Bibles we gave them understanding more and more about what it means to be saved. My mother teaches them on a tarp at the soccer field within their trailer park, where we thank God for one shade tree to shade us in the heat as the kids learn about Jesus each week. We never miss a week unless it rains.

We realize God does not need us in any location, but what a privilege to be used by Him! God used our table outreach of evangelism based on apologetics so much at Siesta Key on Easter morning that almost all of our materials on the table were taken by the end of the outreach—there was a very liberal church that had a universal “sunrise service” where 3,000 people attended. We set up the outreach table there beside the restrooms for people to stop on their way back to the parking lot after the service, and they did. This, plus outreach locations like the Myaka River State Park, a downtown park in Sarasota and working with women in evangelism at the Crisis Pregnancy Center have kept us busy!

Teams are still out in NYC, England, and Atlanta weekly in this world that continues to change so much since Covid. I know God will keep providing as we do our work unto Him and live for Him, but I cannot thank everyone enough, for how God keeps providing through each one of you. In times like these in America with so much crime and anger, our outreaches shine a light with people in darkness needing the light of Jesus more than ever. Thank you for being part of it. You can always read daily about every outreach we do also on the “Lighting the Way Worldwide” FB page. Updates and photos are also posted sporadically on gab.com.

This week’s goals, along with setting up in outreach at sunrise at Siesta Key, include updating the Lighting the Way web site and By God’s Grace.org , as our ministry continues to grow in new locations and in depth through apologetics.

“Where are your people? I trust they are God’s people; and if so, those that bear your name, standing on the other shore, are more numerous than the handful gathered around you here; many whom you have never known, but who know you; many whom you have loved and lost a while; many who without you cannot be made perfect in their happiness. There they are, rank on rank, company on company, regiment on regiment, watching for your coming. Be sure you do not disappoint them! But remember, if your people are God’s people, you cannot be gathered to them unless first in faith and love you are gathered to Him.’ –F.B. The Message “Bible” continues its spiritual infection

The Word Like Fire

Decades ago, the counterfeit The Message “Bible” was introduced to the visible church.  A generation has now been raised on it, and understanding of God has been weakened. The Message “Bible” is not from God; the earthly author was simply the middleman. You understand what is being said here, right?

Throughout this counterfeit “Bible,” there are deletions, additions, and alterations. Look at the difference between legitimate translations and The Message “Bible” in Hebrews 12:14:

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: (KJV, emphasis mine)

Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. (NASB, emphasis mine)

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: (NKJV, emphasis mine)

And now, The Message “Bible”:

Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you’ll never get…
