Our Present Sufferings

Rick Becker writes in Famine in the Land:

Suffering is a sign that there’s something wrong in this world. What went wrong, is something called sin. Sin ruined creation, and one of the consequences is that suffering entered [the] world. Believers as well as unbelievers will share many of the same forms of suffering –  physical, mental or emotional pain, dreadful circumstances, physical death etc. These serve as a stark reminder that we are a fragile vapor, susceptible to the pangs of living in a temporary and fallen world. In the light of eternity, unless they repent, the suffering of unbelievers is a waste. This is not the case for believers (continue reading article)

Perilous Times are Here: Lovers of Self

Christians have a responsibility and our responsibility is to God. In short, Christians have one job in spite of what is happening in society at any point in time. Our job is to preach Christ and Him crucified! The only real healing and justice that can happen in society is when it happens with one person at a time and that is only through Christ and the salvation that only He provides! There is NO other way and this is why in society there are many checks and balances with lower courts to higher courts to eventually the Supreme Court. Even there, true justice might not occur, but it has a far better chance of happening than if there was only one court and one group of judges…(continue reading Study-Grow-Know blog article)

Part 3–The Watchman and the Hunter

The watchmen who were set on the walls by God were to give His message. That also means they were His prophets, as they spoke God’s words of warning to the people. The walls were also His.

The modern watchman of today who is called by God to speak out and warn His people must be standing on the right wall. Continue reading…

Part 2: The Watchman and the Hunter

That blogger from the far North continues her series on biblical examples of watchmen and hunters. I’ve never seen this done before, this comparison. Really interesting reading.

An excerpt from the  More Books and Things article:

Nimrod, great grandson of Noah, was the very first hunter mentioned in the Bible, and we all know what he turned out to be. His name means ‘rebel’, and that is what he was. Nimrod built the tower of Babel and eventually founded Babylon, later used by God to judge his rebellious people, the spirit of which still lives on.

And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison Gen 25:27-28 … Continue reading

Why art thou still blogging?

My wife has noted that for someone who has allegedly pulled back from blogging I am still…blogging.

Well, yes and no. I am working on a novel, and making headway, and this would not be happening if I was still full time blog-o-rama, blog-a-palooza, blog-o-matic.

I do have two new articles I will be getting to–a book review of the excellent Richard Rohr and the Enneagram Secret, and an article documenting the unholy trinity within the visible church–three things popular with Christians but which stem from the dangerous and unholy practice of automatic writing.

But here is the thing: I still plan on posting or reblogging the work of other discerning Christians. We need to know what is coming at us. So you will at times see articles from the usual suspects here: Famine in the Land, Deception in the Church, Lighthouse Trails, Christian Research Network, Suspicious Berean, More Books and Things, The Berean Call, Let Us Reason, Earnest Layman, m’kayla’s korner, and a number of others (forgive me if I have left you out).

Somewhere along the line there will be an all Canada blogs link-o-thon dealy bobber: Suspicious Berean, Whys Canadian, More Books and Things, and bcooper.wordpress.com and others.

The time to freely worship in Canada and the USA is drawing to a close.

Back to the subject of blogging on TWLF.

So, yes, I am not blogging.

Much.

Unclean spirits and Alcoholics Anonymous co-founder Bill Wilson

A.A.’s history is often misrepresented or downplayed to portray A.A. co-founder Bill Wilson as Christian. In reality, Bill Wilson swam in an ocean of unholy, occult experiences before and during his time in A.A.

According to Wilson:

“The ouija board began moving in earnest. What followed was the fairly usual experience-it was a strange melange of Aristotle, St. Francis, diverse archangels with odd names, deceased friends–some in purgatory and others doing nicely, thank you! There were malign and mischievious ones of all descriptions telling of vices quite beyond my ken, even as former alcoholics. Then, the seemingly virtuous entities would elbow them out with messages of comfort, information, advice—and sometimes just sheer nonsense.” (PASS IT ON, Wilson’s official A.A. biography, pg. 278) (emphasis mine)

The fairly usual experience?

“There shall not be found among you…a medium or a spiritist or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 18:10, 11, 12)

D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones on silence “when falsehood is being propagated”

“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ” does not mean that you accommodate yourself to wrong teaching and doctrine, that you say nothing when falsehood is being propagated. No! For that is a denial of all the New Testament. Not only that, it is a denial of some of the most glorious epochs and eras in the Christian Church. ~ D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
