REDISCOVERING BETHEL–DIVINATION, MYSTICISM AND VAIN IMAGINATIONS

Rick Becker of Famine In The Land writes:

Bethel church Redding is currently promoting a series of videos called “Rediscover Bethel.” The goal is to clear up any misconceptions, and silence critics. Dan Farrelly, associate pastor and Dean of the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry carefully coaches spin “apostle” and “prophet” Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton through a series of questions and answers. In episode 4, Farrelly concedes that their strategy of ignoring questions and critics has “cost them a little bit.”  Vallotton weighs in by quoting Churchill: “If you stop for every barking dog you’ll never reach your destiny.” But at the same time, Vallotton says there are “hungry people” asking questions. Why they have left the “hungry people” without answers for decades, is a question only they can answer. —Continue Reading Article…

Before our very eyes

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! (Isaiah 5:20-21)

Is GOD really the one behind ‘The Chosen’ as creator of series declares?

[Reader, I love the Mormon people. Over the decades I have found them to be kind, generous, and good neighbors. Mormons do not know the Jesus Christ of the Bible. It seems like The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins has a blind spot here. Rather than rationalizing his involvement with them, he should be studying 2 Cor 6:14-17. The Chosen itself is extra-biblical. It is the Gospel of Christ as entertainment. No one has the right to give the disciples and other biblical characters a “back story.” –TWLF]

According to Marsha West of Christian Research Network:

Thousands of people, including many Christians, have tuned in to watch the series The Chosen. The series is about Jesus Christ and His disciples, both before and after their ministry began. The Chosen has been a great success and as a result another season is in the offing. In her piece The Chosen  and The Shift, Ingrid McCullough warns that it’s not just a show:

Mr. Jenkins is involved in writing study guides and devotionals that go along with his portrayal of Christ and His followers. Churches and small groups will be watching episodes of The Chosen and using the accompanying materials for the sake of spiritual growth. He argues that The Chosen doesn’t replace Scripture but He does claim that God is the one behind it, wanting to use the series to bring people closer to Christ. This same line of reasoning is used by the LDS to promote the Book of Mormon…

And herein lies the problem and the reason for this article. My chief concern is that most people don’t realize that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints a.k.a Mormonism, is involved in producing the series. And that should give Christians pause. …continue reading the Marsha West article….
