A GLOSSARY OF NEW APOSTOLIC REFORMATION TERMINOLOGY

Accelerate! Activation! Billion Soul Harvest! Decree and Declare!

From Famine In The Land:

NEW – A comprehensive list which will be updated regularly!
One of the ways to identify leaders and their followers (NARites) in this movement, is by paying attention to the terminology or buzzwords they use. Some of the words in this list are biblical, but the meaning and application are far removed from what scripture actually teaches (biblical terminology gives credence to their aberrant doctrines). Certain words used in the NAR appear to be sci-fi or computer buzzwords, and their applications originate in the minds of the false apostles and prophets that drive this movement. Warning about “The Bible Project”

“And if you’re familiar with the story, how it works, hell–or evil or sin, the various names it’s called in the Bible–is something that humans have created by our decision to seize autonomy from God.” — Tim Mackie, creator of The Bible Project [1]

Huh?

This morning we discovered the The Bible Project. We  watched the teaching about the prophet Ezekiel. It was so well done, so clear in its graphics and explanation, that we were bowled over. So bowled over that the link was sent out to others.

We were pretty excited. But after doing some research,  we realized The Bible Project should not be recommended–rather should people be warned.

Pastor Gabe Hughes notes that, “It’s [The Bible Project co-founder] Tim Mackie who is distorting the doctrine of the atonement.” Like the author of The Shack, and so many others these days, Mackie gobbledegooks understanding about the atonement.

We really appreciate this video by Pastor Hughes about Mackie and The Bible Project.  Please watch, that you may be equipped to warn others. Also, you may want to read: Hell needs “reframing,” says The Bible Project co-founder.

Propitiation: The act of appeasing the wrath of God.*

for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; (Romans 3:23-25)

Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. (Hebrews 2:17)

and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. (1 John 2:2)

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)

As Hughes makes clear, The Bible Project, despite many wonderful videos, is not to be recommended. Omit propitiation and you have a different doctrine of the atonement. A different atonement means a different Jesus.

For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Christ Jesus. (1 Corinthians 3:11)

Who said: “God Himself is a dreaming God”

“Hidden somewhere in your DNA are God-given dreams. Discovering those dreams should be your ultimate quest for they will unlock your destiny. God Himself is a dreaming God and needing outlets for His dreams, gave us His dreaming nature.” [1]

Okay, who said the above quote? Was it:

A. An Alcoholics Anonymous member describing the latest revision of his or her “higher power.”

Or, was it:

B. Dutch Sheets, founder of DSM, an “apostolic, prophetic, and teaching ministry.” [ 2]

The answer is B. It’s Dutch Sheets, one of the movers and shakers of the New Apostolic Reformation. If you thought it was a description of an A.A. “higher power,” that is understandable. Logical even, as the higher power can be anything or everything. A dreaming deity who needs us as outlets for His dreams is perfectly kosher in A.A. theology.

Of course, Dutch Sheets isn’t the first person to claim God is a “dreaming God.” And he won’t be the last. We’ve all heard the term God’s Dream or a variation thereof. But each time we do this,  don’t we make Him a little more like us, at least in our own minds?

God does not dream. God does not sleep. God knows everything that is going to happen.  He is not lounging on His throne, pondering the dreams he has for you.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

He loves us, and is closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24) He is our friend. (John 15:14-15) But He is also our King. (Psalm 47:2,8) He is holy, righteous, great, and glorious, and in many ways beyond our comprehension.

Who came up with God’s Dream? Where did it come from? The answer may surprise you. This is not a phrase used solely by Christians. Here is Warren B. Smith with the answer here and here.

Humility in our walk

Mike Oppenheimer of Let Us Reason writes:

The Spirit will always have us yield to what is right, good and true.

Humility means one does NOT think more highly of themselves, they know their strong and weak points.

They are able and willing to receive truth from another, even if it is correction. God ordained authority is living by humility, to consider oneself being equal with others takes a surrendered soul.

To humble oneself in the sight of the Lord God can be difficult and is often a fight against pride that may be present. It’s our duty to examine ourselves. A servant is someone who spends time in God’s presence by reading His Word, praying and willing to minister to others even when it is uncomfortable. This does not always end in agreement.

The more aware we become of who the Lord is, how holy He is, the more we become aware of our sins and flaws and our daily dependence on Him. This trains us in humility, that is when we understand in a personal way His grace and mercy to us. (Click here to continue reading article)

High profile Christians and contemplative prayer (Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer)

“The question may arise–how can credible Christian organizations justify and condone meditative practices that clearly resemble Eastern meditation? … Christian terminology surrounds theses practices,” states Ray Yungen. “It only takes a few popular Christian leaders with national profiles to embrace a teaching that sounds Christian to bring about big changes in the church. ” [1]

Big changes indeed. These high profile people include Rick Warren, Bill and Beni Johnson, Mike Bickle, James Goll, Tim Keller, and Heidi Baker (she calls it “soaking”).

Why does contemplative prayer continue to spread despite numerous warnings? What is going on with these influential, high profile people? There is a bondage to this deception. There is also pride. Celebrity Christians, like many of us, do not take correction well–which is to say, not at all.

And all the while, the visible church inches (catapults) closer and closer to New Age practices and a New Age Christ.

Some years ago a Christian magazine described Beth Moore as a contemplative advocate. [2]  And that brings us to Beth Moore and Priscilla Shirer, and their foray into these murky waters. Click to read…

COMPARING SCRIPTURES IN THE CATHOLIC NEW TESTAMENT BIBLE TO TEACHINGS FOUND IN THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH – DEAR CATHOLIC, ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD, OR THE WORD OF MAN? PART 14

An enormous amount of work and research went into this. Written and compiled by a former Catholic. Valuable for Catholics with questions about biblical Christianity; and valuable for biblical Christians with questions about Catholicism.

Capture Catholic New Testament Bible and Catechism of the Catholic Church pic 1

SERIES INTRODUCTION

There are two very important reasons why I felt compelled to write this series of posts, and I’d like to briefly share these reasons with you now before I go any further:

1) Since I am a former Catholic who is very aware of the teachings of the Catholic Church because I attended twelve years of Catholic school, attended Catechism classes, made my First Holy Communion, was Confirmed, and faithfully attended Mass not only every Sunday for many years, but also before school began for three years (as required by the school that I attended at the time), and who came to the knowledge of who Jesus Christ truly is and what He actually accomplished for us by reading a Catholic New Testament Bible exactly like the one pictured above, I decided to write this series with the hope of reaching precious Catholics so that they can not…

The Message “Bible” continues its spiritual infection

Decades ago, the counterfeit The Message “Bible” was introduced to the visible church.  A generation has now been raised on it, and understanding of God has been weakened. The Message “Bible” is not from God; the earthly author was simply the middleman. You understand what is being said here, right?

Throughout this counterfeit “Bible,” there are deletions, additions, and alterations. Look at the difference between legitimate translations and The Message “Bible” in Hebrews 12:14:

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: (KJV, emphasis mine)

Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. (NASB, emphasis mine)

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: (NKJV, emphasis mine)

And now, The Message “Bible”:

Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you’ll never get so much as a glimpse of God. (Hebrews 12:14, The Message)

The Message omits sanctification or holiness from this verse. This changes the entire meaning of Hebrews 12:14!

This travesty is not some isolated occurrence. In Psalm 27:1, for instance, the word “salvation” is removed. Do you know anybody who uses The Message “Bible”? Here is a short booklet documenting numerous verses that have been butchered. Click here to read

Catholic/Protestant unity? IHOP worship leader’s false “The Lord says” prophecy (video below)

[The video is at the end of this very long article.]
Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3)
The elements of the false church are slowly streaming together–including, I believe, the Catholic Church, the New Apostolic Reformation, and contemplative prayer. International House of Prayer founder Mike Bickle has given Catholics a number of opportunities to merge with Protestants. This is not biblical. (2 Cor 6:14-17, Gal 1:6-9) Such ecumenism was the case at IHOP’s Onething gathering in 2015. This is when the first Catholic Ecumenical Track at Onething took place.
.
In 2016,  the Catholics brought their beliefs and practices including Lectio Divina (with IHOP worship leader Nathan Panke), contemplative prayer (pg.1), and Taize Chants (pg.3). Click for Schedule
The Catholic contingent was present at Onething in 2017 and 2018 as well.
.
Back to 2015 Onething: This was a significant conference in as much as Francis Chan became even more identified with Mike Bickle and IHOP. Chan, speaking for the second time at Onething, once again served as a public relations agent for Bickle and IHOP theology. Chan seemed to encourage Catholic/Protestant unity as well.
.
Perhaps Bickle or the Catholic participants influenced him concerning Catholicism during his three speaking engagements at Onething. Or, perhaps Chan has been going in this direction for some time. But now, in 2020, it seems Chan himself may well be on his way to becoming a Catholic. Time will tell.
 ‘
Why are so many high profile Christians seemingly incapable of distinguishing between Catholic doctrine and the biblical understanding of Salvation? Beware the celebrity Christians who would carry us into a syncretistic Samaria. (2 Kings 17:24) For there are many: Todd White, Lou Engle, Mike Bickle, Rick Warren, and more.
 .
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will for themselves accumulate teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
Aren’t there some people who are saved in the Catholic Church? Yes. The Lord is merciful above all else. But these people are saved in spite of Catholic teaching, not because of it. And I always wonder, if this is the case, why doesn’t the Holy Spirit lead them out?
                                                                                                                                                        .
There are many articles on this blog about false teachers, incorrect doctrine etc. The hardest thing to write about is Catholicism. I know many will be hurt, and will not understand. I went to a Catholic high school and know full well (as do you) that Catholics are great neighbors and friends. Unfortunately for the Catholics, the visible church is far more interested in following the leading of a Bickle or a Chan rather than supporting the ministries of those trying to reach Catholics with the true gospel.
                                                                                                                                                             .
As previously noted, this hunger for Catholic/Protestant Oneness has been going on at IHOP for a long time. It was going on long before the 2015 Onething in the heart of Mike Bickle, and it is going on now. Remember, deceptive contemplative practices are foundational to IHOP. False visions and prophecies are part and parcel of the IHOP spirituality. During the 2015 Worship Leader Q&A Panel a false prophecy–“The Lord says”–about Catholic/Protestant unity was given. The following is my second letter to this worship leader about this. I never received a reply. The video showing this false prophecy is at the end of this letter.
                                                                                                      ‘
Subject: For Nathan Panke: False Catholic/Protestant Oneness prophecy
Hi Nathan,
I wrote you at IHOP-KC after watching your prophecy at the Onething IHOP and Catholic worship leader Q and A (with Matt and Audrey). Unfortunately, my letter was returned.
On the stage, you said, “And I just feel this right now, The Lord says, there’s no us and them. There’s us. There is no us and them. There’s us. There is no us and them….”
Brother, I know you have spent your life trying to serve the Lord. I don’t question your heart. But that is a false prophecy.
Catholicism is inclusivist. According to the official Vatican document, Lumen Gentium:
But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. In the first place amongst these are the Muslims, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind. (emphasis mine)
Catholic teaching offers another way to salvation!
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.” John 14:6
Galatians 1:8-9. Please, Nathan, this has to stop. You IHOP people are serving as a catalyst for a false unity.
I also sent you Holly Pivec’s article two years ago, Roman Catholic View of Salvation. Read
I would very much appreciate hearing from you.
In Him,
John

Nathan Panke begins at 53:47 in video. At 58:15 another IHOP worship leader prays, “Father I want to repent on behalf of myself and other Protestants for ignorant assumptions related to the Catholic Church and Catholic believers.”

The Jerusalem Council and Roman Catholic Eucharist

From Rational Christian Discernment:

If the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation was taught in the church from its inception, then how come the issue was not discussed at the Jerusalem Council where the consumption of blood was frowned upon (Acts 15:202921:25)? If the leadership who convened had actually believed in this teaching, then would they not have clarified that the blood of Christ was of a different nature in order to prevent confusion? Click here…
