The Cost of Full Surrender

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7)

C.F. Fisher writes:

Bluntly put—the cost of full surrender to God’s will is death to the carnal mind and autonomy It will involve the dissolution of one’s many desires and goals opposed to God’s will. One will meet few travelers on the path to full surrender. The way is narrow and lonely and all uphill. Conversely, the metaphorical path away from full surrender is more populated, well-worn, downhill, and littered with tear-stained handkerchiefs and discarded journals. Not everyone will continue once they realize the costs.
